چکیده

Geospatial dataset of trace elements including manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), titanium (Ti), rubidium (Rb), strontium (Sr), thorium (Th), Vanadium (V) and Zirconium (Zr) of near-surface soils in a Cu-Ni prospecting field at Airstrip North, Central Botswana were statistically analysed. Grid sampling method was used in the field data collection. The relatively new portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (Delta Premium, 510890, USA) technology in a "soil" mode was used to measure the concentrations of trace elements in the soils. The data presented was obtained from the average reading of two soil samples collected from same point but passed through sieves. Sequel to DOI: 10.1016/j.dib.2016.08.026 (P.N. Eze, V.S. Quantitative geospatial dataset on the near-surface heavy metal concentrations in semi-arid soils from Maibele Airstrip North, Central Botswana

This article contains a statistically analyzed dataset of the heavy metals including Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Pb contents of near-surface (~30 cm depth) soils in a Cu-Ni prospecting field at Airstrip North, Central Botswana. The soils developed on paragneisses and amphibolites parent materials in a semi-arid environment with hardveld vegetation, "The geology of the Topisi area" (Key et al., 1994)...

Remote sensing for urban heat and cool islands evaluation in semi-arid areas

Cities are experiencing rapid population growth and consequently extensive urbanization. Land-use/land-cover change is one of the important elements worldwide, which significantly affect the environment. This study aims to describe the emergence of urban heat and cool islands as a result of changes in land-use/land-cover. Land surface temperature over a 32-year period in Isfahan city, Iran was ...

Statistical and Geostatistical Appraisal of Spatial Variability of Aggregate Stability and Aggregate-Associated Organic Carbon Content on a Catchment Scale in a Semi-arid Region, Central Iran

In a semiarid region of central Iran, effects of parent materials, physiography and landscape position, land use, andmanagement practices on association of organic carbon with secondary (aggregates) particles and aggregate stability canhave important consequences in terms of carbon sequestration and budgeting, deciding on the proper land use strategy andsuitable soil conservation practices. It ...

Mapping Copper and Lead Concentrations at Abandoned Mine Areas Using Element Analysis Data from ICP–AES and Portable XRF Instruments: A Comparative Study

Understanding spatial variation of potentially toxic trace elements (PTEs) in soil is necessary to identify the proper measures for preventing soil contamination at both operating and abandoned mining areas. Many studies have been conducted worldwide to explore the spatial variation of PTEs and to create soil contamination maps using geostatistical methods. However, they generally depend only o...

Exploring the relationship between land use and surface water quality using multivariate statistics in arid and semi-arid regions

The relative impacts of different types of land use on the surface water quality are yet to be ascertained and quantified. In this paper, the influence of different types of land use on surface water quality is investigated. Rain events samples from different land use in the central plateau, Iran, were analyzed for major ions. Statistical analyses were employed to examine the statistical relati...
